Whisky is the national drink of Scotland and our tour takes us to the renownedSpeyside whisky region. We visit and tour two distilleries and partake of a few "wee drams". We also stop off and visit the only working cooperage in Britain.

We depart from the city of Inverness and trail to Speyside via the rugged and mountainous scenic Lecht route. We have timed our tour to allow for a couple of photo stops on this memorable road before arriving at our first stop of the day - Glenlivet Distillery.

At the distillery the expert guide will take you on a tour and reveal the ancient methods used to produce the Water of Life. No tour of a distillery would be complete without a Wee Dram and the Glenlivet is no exception to this rule!!

We now head off to a unique place which provides a vital link in our whisky making chain, the Speyside Cooperage. To be legally classed as whisky our blends and malts need to mature in barrels for a minimum of 3 years. This family-owned business is the only working cooperage in the UK. It takes a 5 year apprenticeship to learn all the skills needed to be a cooper. We watch as they repair the Bourbon and Sherry casks used for the whisky and create the new casks some distillers now use. This is also our lunch stop and there is a range of light lunch choices in the cafe.

Our final visit of the day is a tour round the world famous Glenfiddich distillery. Situated in Dufftown, the capital of the whisky industry. Rome sits on 7 hills, Dufftown sits on 7 stills and Glenfiddich is the jewel in the crown!  The tour once again reveals the secrets of the making and ends with a wonderful opportunity to sample a flight of 4 whiskies.

We can visit a maximum of 3 distilleries in one day. In Speyside there is a variety to select from; Glenfiddich, Aberlour, Balvenie, Cardhu, The Glenlivet, Glen Grant, Glenfarclas, Glen Moray.
