Private Tour to Doune Castle and Loch Lomond from Stirling

If you are planning on basing yourself in the historic city of Stirling this is the essential private tour for you. A day full of history, hairy counts, mountains and lochs. With your own personal tour guide passionate about Scotland’s stories, culture and landscapes. This tour can be tailor made if you wish to make a few changes and we can cater to any group size.
In the morning your local Scottish tour guide will pick you up from your accommodation based in Stirling or the local area. After a short drive we arrive to a castle with many names. Doune Castle is an historic 13th century built castle originally built for the Duke of Albany then becoming a Royal Hunting Lodge. It has now become famous for being Swamp Castle in Monty Python’s Holy Grail, Winterfell in Game of Thrones and Castle Leoch in the Outlander TV series.
After we pay a short visit to meet some Hairy Coos. Highland Cattle are the oldest bread of cows in the world. The shaggy hair is waterproof protecting them from the rain. They also are great for selfies!
We travel though the stunning landscape of an area called The Trossachs. Often referred to as Highland in miniature. The mountain and loch landscape is a favourite for painters and photographers. It is also the land of the Clan Magregor and famous Outlaw Hero named Rob Roy. We will take a break in Aberfoyle for lunch. (note: in the winter time due to icy conditions the Trossachs portion will be skipped and we go straight to Loch Lomond.)
Upon reaching the Bonnie Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond we embark on a 1 hour mini-cruise. Loch Lomond is the largest inland body of water (surface) in Great Britain. It has a number of islands with all sorts of interesting feature such as ruins, a hotel, camping, albino deer and even wallabies! Enjoy the view of Ben Lomond, the most southern Munro in Scotland.
After we then return to Stirling. There is an option to add-on Glengoyne Distillery. Please let us know in advance if you wish to do this. This tour is also available from Edinburgh (add-on 2 hours). Enquire for more details and pricing.

- What's included depends on your size of your group. For 1 to 7 people the tour will include a driver guide and vehicle. For 8 people or more there will be a coach/minicoach, driver and guidie.
- We cannot guarantee the weather but we can guarantee the scenery.
