This private tour is available from Edinburgh and Stirling. This is a long day tour to the historic but stunning mountain landscapes of Glencoe and the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct. A favourite for Harry Potter fans. With your own personal tour guide passionate about Scotland’s stories, culture and landscapes. This tour can be tailor made if you wish to make a few changes and we can cater to any group size.
Your Scottish Tour Guide will pick you up at your hotel in Edinburgh or Stirling. We being our long journey to the Scottish Highlands. We will admire the vast emptiness of Rannoch Moor and make our way to Glencoe. Here we will learn about the horrific history of the Massacre of the Clan Macdonald in 1692. This area is popular for climbers, skiers and all outdoor enthusiasts. It was also used in Harry Potter as Hagrid’s house background.
After passing through Fort William we arrive to the Glenfinnan Viaduct Visitor’s centre. Here you have time to wonder the area and enjoy the views. The early 20th century railway bridge has become famous for Harry Potter fans as this is where the Hogwart’s express passes. On the other side of the road is Loch Shiel and the Highland Monument. On this shores is where Bonnie Prince Charlie arrived in 1745.
We then have a long return journey travelling passed Ben Nevis and Loch Laggan. We have a comfort stop in the Victorian town of Pitlochry before heading back to your accommodation in Stirling or Edinburgh.
