Often described as fruity and flavourful with many influences of the surrounding nature such as heather. This is a customisable tailor-made tour and the itinerary can be adjusted to your request.

In the morning your private driver guide will pick you up from you hotel and set off for the Scottish Highlands. On the way you will learn the story of whisky and some personal views from the guide on how to drink it. By the end of the day you will have a basic knowledge on the process of making whisky as we tour through the various distilleries. Starting with the barley, leaving it to germinate then mashed and yeast added to make wash (beer). The distillation process is where the art of making whisky begins. Each still shaped differently to give its unique taste. After aged for at least 3 years in a warehouse where the angels take their share.

Most distilleries are set in a romantic area, tucked away in a secluded glen and surrounded by hills. This was to hide from the tax man while make illegal whisky in the 18th century. Always close by a water source as that is the most important ingredients to whisky. The name whisky comes from the Gaelic language word "Uisge Beathe" which translates as "Water of Life".

Itinerary
We begin the day with a visit to Doune Castle, a medieval stronghold used in many films and television series including Monty Python and Outlander. It is an impressive site with a rich history and a great place to start the journey before heading deeper into whisky country.

From here we continue to Glenturret Distillery, an award winning attraction and one of the oldest Single Malt producers in Scotland, legally making whisky since 1775. The distillery tour offers a fascinating look at traditional whisky production, and at the end you will have the opportunity to taste the whisky and browse the shop.
After the tour we stop in the nearby town of Crieff for lunch, where you can enjoy a meal at a traditional local pub before continuing into the Highlands.

The afternoon takes us on a scenic drive through some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the region, travelling via Loch Earn and the Trossachs. This route offers excellent opportunities for photographs and a chance to enjoy the natural beauty of the Highlands.

We finish the day at Deanston Distillery, located on the River Teith in a former cotton mill dating back to 1785. The mill closed in 1965 and was converted into a whisky distillery two years later. Deanston crafts its whisky the traditional way with unchill filtered methods, meaning nothing is added and nothing is taken away. The distillery offers a range of tastings, including the popular Warehouse Experience where you can sample whisky straight from the cask. It is a memorable way to end the tour before returning to Edinburgh.
