Discover Edinburgh’s distilleries on this day tour from Edinburgh. Your guide can pick you up from your hotel in Edinburgh or cruise ship port. A full day of exploring the spirit of Scotland and the lowland whisky region.
We will first head to Glenkinchie which is a classic single malt that has been distilling since 1825. It is now the Lowland Home of Johnnie Walker. Here we will explore the distillery and learn about the production of whisky from barley to cask. Then you will enjoy 6 drams including one drawn from cask in the maturation room.
Continuing for a lunch break at the Sheep Heid Inn. It is known as Scotland’s Oldest surviving public house, dating to 1360. After lunch we will make a scenic stop at Portobello beach for views of Fife and the Firth of Forth.
Port of Leith Distillery is Scotland’s first vertical distillery and one of the most striking modern buildings on the waterfront. Instead of visiting for a tour, you head straight to the rooftop bar, which offers wide views across the docks, the Firth of Forth and over to Fife on a clear day. The bar has become a popular stop for its relaxed atmosphere, well curated whisky list and creative cocktails that showcase both local spirits and seasonal flavours. It is a contemporary contrast to the traditional distilleries on the tour and a good place to unwind before continuing your journey.
