Set off from Inverness on a journey woven with myths, legends, and cinematic wonder. The famous Glenfinnan Viaduct — instantly recognizable from the Harry Potter films — is a highlight, but along the way you’ll also encounter the world‑renowned Loch Ness and the dramatic landscapes of the Great Glen.

Urquhart Castle – Echoes of the Past
Travel the shoreline of Loch Ness, Scotland’s second‑largest loch, where tales of the elusive Loch Ness Monster continue to spark imaginations. Keep your eyes peeled for Nessie as we pause for photos at Urquhart Castle, a striking ruin steeped in centuries of Highland history and perched dramatically above the water.

Invermoriston – A Touch of Neverland
Continuing along Loch Ness, we reach the charming village of Invermoriston. Here the River Moriston flows into the loch beside an old stone bridge and Summer House — said to have inspired JM Barrie’s vision of Neverland in Peter Pan.

Through the Great Glen – Scotland’s Natural Wonder
Journey southwest through the Great Glen, a spectacular geological fault line cutting across the Highlands. Take in sweeping views of rugged mountains and shimmering lochs before we pause for lunch at the glen’s base, surrounded by breathtaking scenery.

Glenfinnan – Hogwarts Express & Jacobite History
Arriving at Glenfinnan, marvel at the iconic viaduct made famous by the Hogwarts Express in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Nearby stands the Glenfinnan Monument, commemorating Bonnie Prince Charlie and the start of the 1745 Jacobite Rising.
Follow scenic trails for the best vantage points of the viaduct, and — if timing allows — watch the Jacobite Steam Train cross (seasonal, April 7 to October 24, 2025). Stroll down to Loch Shiel, where both history and movie magic come alive.

Fort Augustus – Highland Charm at Loch Ness
Our afternoon stop brings us to Fort Augustus, a postcard‑perfect village at the southern tip of Loch Ness. Enjoy panoramic views, sample local cafés and restaurants, and visit the Caledonian Canal Centre. Watch boats navigate the canal locks and learn about Neptune’s Staircase, an impressive feat of engineering.

Return to Inverness
We journey back to Inverness along the scenic south road beside Loch Ness. Following General Wade’s historic military route, this drive offers uninterrupted vistas, Highland charm, and memorable photo stops before arriving back in the city — closing a day filled with stories, scenery, and unforgettable experiences.
