Explore Edinburgh and St Andrews on this 4-Day Short Break Tour. Come to Edinburgh on this short break tour package to explore the city and its surroundings. You’ll discover the highlights of Scotland’s historic capital and take a day trip to the famous town of St Andrews, known as the home of golf. St Andrews also offers ancient cathedral ruins, a castle, and a renowned university. We can adjust the itinerary to suit your schedule and flight times.
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer
Upon arrival at Edinburgh Airport, a local professional chauffeur driver will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, you will have the rest of the day at your leisure to relax and adjust to the time. If your arrival is early and you want to add an experience, let us know when you enquire.
Day 2: Time to Explore Edinburgh
In the morning, enjoy a walking tour of the Old Town of Edinburgh. We will explore the Royal Mile, step in and out of the historic closes, and hear dark stories of Edinburgh’s past. The tour will end with a visit to Edinburgh Castle. We can plan this as a private tour or you can join a group.
For lunch, why not enjoy afternoon tea at the Tea Rooms at Edinburgh Castle? If you prefer lunch somewhere else or at your leisure, that is also fine.
In the afternoon, head down to Holyrood Palace* to explore the Royal Palace of Residence in Edinburgh. We will provide tickets so you can make your own way there. Audio tours are available at no cost. Still have energy left? Climb Edinburgh’s famous Arthur’s Seat!
*If closed, we can offer the Royal Yacht Britannia as an alternative.
Day 3: St Andrews and the Fife Coast
Today we journey into the Kingdom of Fife to visit the iconic town of St Andrews. Enjoy a walking tour of St Andrews Cathedral, St Andrews Castle, and the University, soaking in the rich history and striking architecture. After exploring the town, we head to the Old Course for free time to stroll, take photos, and enjoy some shopping.
On the way back to Edinburgh, we stop at Anstruther along the Fife Coastal Path to enjoy the charming coastal scenery.
*Note: On the group tour, the walking tour is not included. Guests have free time to explore St Andrews on their own.
Day 4: Departure
Your local chauffeur driver will pick you up 2½ hours before your flight so you arrive at the airport in plenty of time.
